The likely explanation is so that the BestBuy stores (and Staples, etc) do not have to price match AMAZON, etc. due to the name (4K PRO vs BRIO ) and the item code being different. It is a not uncommon that manufacturers do this, together with resellers and retailers. In those cases at least, it is precisely for the for the reason I gave above; price protection indirectly by therefore not being required to match discounted prices. This is also why stores carry house-branded products that manufactured by name brand companies; of identical products; but on the packaging, in the computer system, their house brand has a different manufacturer name, model, and part number. By this method retailers do not have to price match -- and as a result the retailer controls the pricing for "their brand". You cannot buy it anywhere, period; much less cheaper. However, if you talk to your local store manager, show him the specs, and explain that it is confirmed as same product by Logitech, the manufacturer itself, (which I have confirmed this twice - by phone and by chat), it is POSSIBLE that Best Buy MAY HONOR the PRICE MATCH, but based on their policy THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO, because, TECHNICALLY, this DOES NOT MEET THEIR CRITERIA and THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO PRICE MATCH in this case (product's model name and item code / number). I write this based on my 20+ years in the retail business, including working for manufacturers and with resellers / retailers, including, specifically Best Buy.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi ThatGuy, I can't explain the part # difference, but I can tell you I bought this model from BestBuy and received exactly what I expected. This is the Logitech BRIO Webcam with 4k support. Several other merchants appear to be using this 960-001178 part number too. Amazon, Staples, Bestbuy, and others.
