Hello Bri, If by "mouse" you mean the trackpad, make sure that the keyboard is connected securely and properly. Also ensure that you have iPadOS 13.4 or above. If the problem persists, than there may be a hardware issue that would be covered by the 1 year limited hardware warranty.
