“I connected the keyboard to my Macbook Air laptop. It works great but for some reason the Ctrl C, Ctrl V and Ctrl Z does not work to copy, paste, or undo. Do I need to create a shortcut with this keyboard or are the shortcut on this keyboard diff?”

If it is a PC keyboard paired with a Mac laptop, try the "Windows" key instead of the Ctrl key, i.e., Windows C, Windows V. The Windows key is usually equivalent to the Command key.
