  • QuestionWhat is the bottom of the mouse like, does it grip the desks' surface and not require a mousepad or not?

    Asked by Christian.

    • Answer The very idea of a Trackball was to ditch all Mouse Pads. A neat and unique feature of this Trackball is the bottom is also adjustable. You can not get a more user friendly one that I know of. The base grips very well with a nice weight to it; And you can raise it and tilt it. Very nice!

  • QuestionCan the buttons on this mouse be programmed? can i set the back and forward buttons as Copy and Paste for example?

    Asked by Alex.

    • Answer I don't think you can through the mouse software but I do program the buttons on applications which allow me to assign them (i.e. World of Warcraft or other games). I think you could get them programmed to work with the keyboard center under Windows.

  • QuestionHi! Tell me please. What is the ball made of on the Logitech - MX ERGO Plus Wireless Trackball Mouse? Marble or Plastic? If plastic can it be replace with marble? Thank you, Pete

    Asked by Pete.

    • Answer I just ran across this question while doing research. I understand why this was asked. It is too lightweight. Logitech's older versions very much like this trackball and the ball itself was much heavier and the trackball mouse itself lasted longer. I have this and in less than a year I am regretting buying it due solely to issues regarding the trackball. I don't know what the plastic is, but I suspect it is the multi-layer coating they were counting on reducing the friction of the trackball against the simple plastic tri-nodes, which it does poorly. It is NOT the Logitech trackball of the past and not for the better. The old ones felt with the weight and sound (as I bounced it on a tile surface) to be more towards ceramic balls with a friction-reducing tracking coating. The weight of the ball would double at least and be enough mass to very likely overcome the issues - or at least significantly reduce - the issues I'm experiencing when combined with the efforts of the friction-reducing coating.

  • QuestionDoes this model MX ergo also come with a hard wire installation, if not is there a model that does?

    Asked by jim.

    • Answer For anyone here searching for a complete answer: The answer is NO, with these caveats: - The USB port on the device is used for charging only. Connecting this port to a USB port on your PC will not allow for routing of usb HID mouse functions over a physical cable. - The MX Ergo can indeed be charged via micro-USB while being used for Wireless Bluetooth/Unifying Receiver Mouse duties. These charges last a very long time, even under heavy use. For those of you scolding the OP for asking the question, there are very real reasons for them to do so: - KVM switching. Although this trackball mouse may exhibit limited functionality when used with a KVM switch (Via the Unifying Receiver or a Bluetooth Dongle,) the supporting driver software gets confused. In my case, the pointer speed as set within Logitech Options is often ignored. Although the device has an integrated switch for toggling between two PCs (of which one may be using a unifying receiver OR bluetooth and the other must be connected via bluetooth,) this will obviously not toggle automatically when your keyboard and video screen input are toggled. If you use the mouse with more than two computers you will struggle... either struggling to constantly pair/connect the device to and from your multiple computers, or struggling with the lack of compatibility with KVM switches serving two or more host computers. As for the second question, there is no version of the MX Ergo featuring a physical usb/HID connection. Other manufacturers make wired roller ball mouse products, but none with the MX Ergo's unique ergonomic tilt design. I love my MX Ergo and have replaced one after wearing it out, but I struggle greatly due to owning a dozen computers and often switching between three or four of them within a day.
