• Yes the keyboard is magnetized and can be removed & reconnected easily. When it is connected and closed it acts as the screen protector. Quite well designed.

• The keyboard and flat ‘wrist-rest’ are detachable from iPad if not needed. When being used, as a cover or functional keyboard, they attach magnetically to the iPad’s left side (when viewed with the home button at the bottom). BTW, I really enjoy the flexibility this offers me in using the iPad.
