The system can set the cameras differently. The cameras do not use battery. They require electrical outlets but no video cables.

The actual range will be dependent upon building materials and other obstructions in the path of the wireless signal, so the more walls you pass through (and the type of materials) will lessen the range. 2. Motion is set up per camera, to start the DVR recording when motion is detected. The snap shot by email feature is either enabled or disabled, and happens whenever there is motion - it cannot be set to send an email every hour. 3. The cameras require a dedicated plug into power with a power adapter, they do not run on batteries. The video is transmitted on a wireless signal and does not require a wired connection to the unit, but the camera will require dedicated power from an outlet. Thanks, Lorex
