• NO M1's have SSD expandability, the intel ones likely did. These DO NOT. It's possible you were viewing the intel specks on Apple's website. Apologies for the round-about way of saying that you are mistaken. Unless of corse there was an error on Apple's website, which is highly unlikely.

• I think it depends on the Apple you have. Apple Mac 14” pro does have a ssd port on the right side. This particular model has 6 ports.
