QuestionIs this tripod compatible with the Canon PowerShot SX 720?

- Answer I have a Sony RX100, which appears to be approximately the same size, at it works very well with that. The tripod has an industry standard 1/4″-20 screw thread. If the Canon PowerShot SX 720 uses that it should be good. Per Wikipedia: "Per ISO 1222:2010,[1] the current tripod screw thread standard for attaching the camera calls for a 1/4-20 UNC[2] or 3/8-16 UNC thread.[3] Most consumer cameras are fitted with 1/4-20 UNC threads."

- Answer Not really. It does extend though. You have the 3 legs the a adjustable arm from the middle of the base.

- Answer from BestBuy specs Product Weight 3.13 pounds. It is a solid tripod that will hold an SLR. We use it for an iPhone. Its heavy enough to stay put while you pan the camera making movies. It should work OK for stop action animation. This one is a joy to use. I also own a tripod a pound lighter and less expensive. It tends to move when you hit the button to take the picture. It's not as solid as this Manfrotto.
