I'm not quite sure if I understand the question correctly but you can use both front and/or rear elevation speakers, or none. I think what it means by assignable is which speakers will be powered by the Marantz and which by an external amplifier because this receiver powers 9 channels. The setup is step by step, detailed and easy to follow. During setup it will ask which speakers you have before calibration. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need a two channel amp to add second height speakers receiver only powers 9 channels you can use preouts for the second heights it’s labeled on back
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Marantz SR6013 only supports a 7.2.4 config if you have another amp for 2 of the ceiling speakers. The max this supports without an additional amp is 7.2.2. I am currently running this in a 7.2.2 layout. I highly recommend this amp. I just upgraded from a Yamaha Aventage A770 which would only support 5.2.2. Sound is much better and the center speaker sound is very clear and I can finally hear more of the conversations in movies.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can probably jimmy it but this receiver is meant for 9.2. I have this set up. If you want 11.2 then you need a receiver that delivers it. There are several options. You can probably configure it to accommodate but it will be diluted.
