“Since you cannot see the controls when the door is closed, I'm assuming that you have to set the cycles and push the start button "before" you close the door, and you cannot see the lights on the control after it is closed?”

Correct, you can not see it and yes you push start and close the door but the light to let you know when it is running and when it is finished is on the front clear to see.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You set the cycle before closing the door, you have 4 seconds to start/cancel. If you have to add a last minute item after machine has started you open, add item, hit start and shut the door. Viewing during cycle is problematic but you can open and hit the start again to resume.
