• A:Answer No. It is not necessary, but it makes the job 10 times easier. Without the harness, you end up having to splice the wires. From there you have to make sure you match positive with the positive and the negative with the negative. Unfortunately, the wire colors are not straightforward being red and black.

• A:Answer 3 1/2 inch speakers should use same factory speaker wire, unless you are getting a hi powered tweeter to replace that size speaker.
