It is designed to hold its full charge over 2 years with minimal degradation. We encourage any customers who experience issues with their hardware to contact Xbox Support as the battery is not designed to be removed.

• The new version has a permanent rechargeable battery and a charge station is included with the controller

• From the looks of the controller, the battery pack doesn’t get removed. It does come with a charging station, but I’m not 100% sure.
