• If you have the hard drive connected you would need to have a Bluetooth mouse to connect to the computer if you don’t want to use the touch pad

• Yes, the unit have a USB port and the power to use a remote hard drive. The mouse pad is working very well. I don’t have the mouse that you connect to the surface pro.
