A:AnswerSurface Slim Pen is compatible with Surface Pro 4. It is also compatible with the following Surface devices: Surface Pro X, Surface Book, Surface Book 2, Surface Studio 1st Gen, Surface Studio 2, Surface Laptop 1st Gen, Surface Laptop 2, Surface Laptop 3, Surface Go, Surface Pro 3, Surface Pro 5th Gen, Surface Pro 6, Surface Pro 7, and Surface 3.
A:AnswerYes the pen is magnetic and will stick to the side of the surface pro. However the magnetism isn't as strong as the original pen so I found it would fall off unintentionally.

A:AnswerI have not tried with the Surface Book 3, however I did try with the Surface Pro 7 which uses the same pen technology as the Surface Book 3. With the Pro 7, this pen works perfectly with only 2 provisos. 1) There are no (that I know of) interchangeable tips for this pen. 2) The pen is magnetic and will stick to the side of the Pro 7 but the magnets are very weak and it falls off easily. I would expect a similar situation with the Book 3 but I have not tried. I would recommend the regular surface pen for the Book 3 as it will stick to the side properly.
A:AnswerConsidering that:
- the pen is meant to be used in contact with the tablet/computer
- the bluetooth connection is between the tablet and the pen
the range seems fairly irrelevant.
That said, the low end of typical bluetooth range is 30ft according to the original spec
A:AnswerI don't think so because the old one works on its own without bluetooth with surface products, it only uses bluetooth to make pushing the eraser do something. I don't think they would change that in the new one.
