Simple answer? Retail. Both 32 and 64 bit versions are on a USB thumb drive. If you are making a clean install, your PC must be able to boot from a USB port. Sorry I can't give you first-hand information about an upgrade. I have a Vista machine on the bench to be upgraded, but I need to save and migrate data to a safe place (i.e., external drive) before I proceed, in case the upgrade fails.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Retail can be used with different motherboards. The OEM binds the windows to that one motherboard. So I you ever upgrade in the future and swap out the motherboard then the OEM won't work with the new board after the swap.
