The game pass doesn’t start till it’s activated it doesn’t matter when you initially purchase or receive your 30 day count down only begins once you activate your pass with your unique code.

Fortunately there is no expiration date on Xbox gift card you can activate it whenever day you want.

Yes, it expiration but who bought it for you probably should’ve bought it with a gift receipt if not call customer service or type customer service it might get off of one time thing. Learn from your mistakes.
