You can PreOrder again now. What you were seeing was most likely the Special Project Scorpio Edition Xbox One X, which were made in very limited quantities.

The original pre orders are for the Xbox one X project Scorpio Edition, once those are gone they will never be available unless someone cancels their order. However you can still pre order an Xbox one X but that was said to be a week or two down the road when Microsoft enables those for pre order. So all is not lost, you can still get a new Xbox just chances for a Scorpio are slim.

The XBOX regular 1TB will be preorder eligible later this month by all accounts, maybe early Oct. Keep your eyes open for the pre order for the regular XBOXX. The Scorpio was the beta name, just a gimmick to pre order that console. Microsoft just using to test the demand. they got their answer. It sold out in minutes
