If you're asking if it serves as a conduit for your cable service, then yes, you can run the cable box through the xbox with hdmi wires. All of these things are simply methods to transfer data. TV is, put simply, just data that your television translates into a picture and sound. So, the internet, beyond a massive system of data sharing, is becoming the primary source and conduit of 'data.' The xbox one x plays dvd's, bluerays and even 4k. So, whatever your situation is, you can at least use it for that as well as playing video games. I hope this helped.
