Xbox Series S is an all-digital console and not compatible with Xbox game discs. If your son has a collection of Xbox One games on disc that he would like to play on the next-generation Xbox, we recommend getting Xbox Series X.

Unfortunately these “digital “ or slim design Video game consoles are trying to compete in pricing but eliminating the costs including CD ROMs. For most users myself included, I’ve always purchased from the market and just redownloaded to each additional Xbox’s console I upgraded. Otherwise the options are limited to the seriesX which I have and I’d recommend. If you understand you need a HDR and 120hz TV yo truly experience the upside of the graphic experience and it’s just as much as the console. I’d still suggest any avid or enthusiastic gamer to buy. Highly don’t suggest if like myself play for a few months and then go several without turning on it’s just not logical. These digital platforms work great esp with the constant demand for new better products it’s only a matter of time the next better system comes out. IE prime members now have a game platform directly from your tv no device but your fire stick and games like Fortnite, racing, etc are available right now. You use a Bluetooth controller and literally have a new console and keep your existing console for your child’s old titles if they aren’t on there. I’d give it a check it’s called Luna if I remember correctly. Best luck on your purchase and am sure they’ll be happy
