Can this be use on a area rug? null

I would say yes depending on the thickness. Should be fine, I vacuumed a towel I had laying down as a makeshift rug and it did just fine. Worst case just remove the brush head and use another attachment.

Hello, The TriFlex HX1 can be used on area rugs and carpets. Though it does have a powered brush roll that may not be ideal for high quality natural fiber rugs/carpets like wool or silk. If you are concerned about your wool or silk we recommend you contact the manufacturer of the rug/carpet.

Yes but it won't like it. Our Dyson doesn't like our area rug either though. Original Dyson animal that is so area rugs with a bit of shag and vacuums don't go too well together no matter the type.
