Nope. As long as you have a streaming device OR a smart tv this antenna should work for you.

All you need is a tv with a hdmi port and wifi. Think of it as a small computer that hooks up to your tv. It can access amazon, Netflix and all of the other apps available via your wifi network and it will use your tv as a monitor/display. That's why you don't need a smart tv; it's just using your tv as a monitor much like a computer uses a monitor. Hope that helps.
