You will get about 15 channels. It needs to be up against a window. It comes with sticky pads. I lean mine against the window, and it works great. For channel 4, I need to put it between the window and the screen in order to get a perfect picture. It is like an antenna that used to be used on top of roofs, but you pick up channels from the window. Buy a coaxial cable and connector to make your cord longer, so you can string it along the floor and up to a window. I bought a 16 foot coaxial cable for mine. It works great when it is up against a window. I wished I would have purchased it a long time ago!
