Yes, to answer your first question. I have been able to connect with my laptop. I don't use a case, so I defer second question to someone else who could answer.

I assume you're talking about the "charging plate" on the back of the phone. The answer is yes, to all.

The USB C cable will still fit, it is thicker than the style mods so some cases might not fit over it.
