Q: How much protection will this offer for my Moto z2?
A: Same protection as any quality, standard case.
A: You need a wireless pad to charge the phone with the wireless charging capabilities of this mod. However, it does not block the USB type-c port. So you can still use the cable and the wall adapter to charger while the mod is installed.
A: Yes, to answer your first question. I have been able to connect with my laptop. I don't use a case, so I defer second question to someone else who could answer.
Q: will this work on the samsung fast wireless charger ?
A: The Motorola wireless mod is compatible with pads that are Qi certified and while I don't use a Samsung pad, the Best Buy website says that they are Qi certified, so I think it should work. The phone does have to be placed on the pad in just the right spot and it may take a minute to sync the first time.
A: This is a back cover that adds wireless charging capability to the Moto phone - it is not an extra battery. There are several back covers called "power packs" that include a separate battery that charges the phone. There is a Tumi branded Moto Mod that does both - adds wireless charging capability as well as the extra battery (I have this). When charging by either the cord to the phone or via wireless the phone charges first then the extra battery. I how this helps!

According to the description it states, "Works with most Qi-enabled devices," The wireless Moto Mod is indeed Qi-enabled/supported. So, you should have any trouble with wireless charging since both support the same Qi wireless charging technology,
A: Mines worked with a case over it but it did not suite well. A normal case will not fit. You will either have to get an off brand or one of those black belt case type of holder.
