Speaking from the experience of getting a galaxy s7 through the verizon store i was allowed to keep my Unlimited plan when getting a device payment plan.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I called Verizon and asked the question about using the payment plan with grandfathered unlimited data. They informed me that the unlimited data will still be in effect. They also made a note on my account that they told me this was the case. The $200 off is only good with the payment plan.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You probably will not be able to keep unlimited but just turn on the "Saftey Mode" and you'll never get billed for extra data. When you go over you limit Verizon throttles you to 1Mbps which is actually fine for most things.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the grandfathered unlimited data, you are allowed one phone upgrade while keeping that unlimited plan. If you've upgraded your phone since Verizon cancelled that plan, your next upgrade will need to be a new data plan. If you've never upgrade since Verizon did away with unlimited data, you can get a new phone and still have your unlimited data. At least, that's how it was initially, but I doubt that would have changed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you do the payment plan then yes you should keep your plan and just get a new phone. I am not currently with Verizon but this is how all other carriers conduct this type of transaction. If you are basically on a BYOP (bring our own phone) plan now you will be still on one. The payment plan phones let you keep our current service plan you just change phones. When you sign a contract is where you have to pick a new plan ( one that is current). The question is do you want to do this. The payment option costs almost $200 more for 2 years. Its not a huge sum but to some it matters.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. For option one the answers would be no. You would be required to go with a new plan since you are taking advantage of the 0 interest financing offered by Verizon. For option 2, I believe you would be eligible for the $200, and since you are only changing your phone and nothing else, you probably could keep your grandfathered plan.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your contract will update to the new style so you will lose the grandfather clause and will be put on a set data plan vs unlimited.
