  • QuestionIs it the model XT1607 or XT1609? Are 4G bands 12, 17, 26 covered? Thanks for the reply.

    Asked by Geez.

    • Answer XT1607; yes. It will likely come in a plain box, along with some sort of charger and 90-day warranty card. Mine was flawless and returned to factory default setups, and came with a new, sealed OEM battery and a Samsung(!) charger. I didn't care about the charger, as I use my own. You'll need to download the Owner's Manual, etc. from Motorola website, which is typical anyway. Regarding bands and frequencies, if you scroll down on the product listing and click to expand the gray bar "Specifications", and then scroll down to "Network", you will see ALL of the bands and frequencies that this phone covers. This (XT1607) is the one you want, as the XT1609 (basically, initially tied to Verizon Prepaid) is much more limited in its frequencies and bands, since it is a less expensive version dictated for the CDMA networks only, I believe.

  • Questiondoes the refurbished phone come with a warrenty

    Asked by warrenty.

    • Answer The phone comes with a 90-day warranty card from Geek Squad. When I picked up the phone from Best Buy, the checkout clerk stated it would have the mfr warranty of 1 year as well, but that could be suspect since no other paperwork/warranty card is included. Motorola's website states the 1-yr warranty goes to the "original owner", so it depends on whether a returned/refurbished phone fits that definition. I haven't readily seen a place on the Motorola website to register any phones for warranty purposes. Frankly, most electronics will typically show any issues within the first 90 days, so I was willing to roll the dice.

  • QuestionWanted to know if this phone works with kroger iwireless(sprint)

    Asked by Willy.

    • Answer Very likely, NO. It appears Sprint has specifically excluded MVNO's from using unapproved and unbranded phones from MVNO's (see the last two lines, below). While Motorola lists this phone as compatible with Sprint, Motorola also specifically shows in a compatibility chart/table that it (actually all of their devices) will NOT work on either Boost or Virgin Mobile, which are Sprint's major MVNO's (Mobile Virtual Network Operator)...which is what your Kroger iwireless would be as well. So, while it's likely completely compatible, Sprint is explicitly blocking the opportunity. Time to find another carrier? Per the iWireless website... An eligible Sprint device (for bringing your own phone) is a device that: -has not had its operating system altered or modified in any way; -is not in poor account status with Sprint or Sprint Affiliates; -has met or completed all financial and contractual obligations or commitments with Sprint, i.e., is a -Financially Eligible Device (“FED”); -has not been reported as lost or stolen; -has the original ESN as assigned by the manufacturer; -has been approved by Sprint as a model that may be activated under the BYOSD Program and remains on Sprint’s approved list of eligible models; and -is branded by Sprint, Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Assurance Wireless, or any other brand or trademark owned by or licensed to Sprint.

  • QuestionWhat kind of sim card do I need to be able to use this phone?

    Asked by Sketch.

    • Answer It utilizes a micro (sized) SIM, or you could likely use a smaller nano (sized) SIM in a micro adapter. Figure out if you need a GSM or CDMA SIM card based on the corresponding major carrier you intend to use (AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, others), as well as virtually all of their related MVNO's (Mobile Virtual Network Operators--TracFone, StraightTalk, Cricket, MetroPCS, etc). The EXCEPTION is Boost & Virgin Mobile and likely any other MVNO that utilizes the Sprint network; it appears Sprint restricts their MVNO's to only Sprint or affiliated MVNO-branded handsets, and thus this unlocked Motorola will NOT work. It's important to get the SIM card from the proper company. For example, if you want to use a TracFone (an MVNO) plan on either the Verizon (CDMA) or AT&T (GSM) network service, you need to get the appropriate CDMA or GSM SIM card from TracFone, NOT from Verizon or AT&T.

  • QuestionSO I CAN TAKE MY LG PHONE (VERIZON) THAT IS NOT WORKING, REMOVE THE SIM CARD AND PLACE IT IN THE NEW PHONE AND THE NEW PHONE WILL WORK WITH MY NUMBER? JUST REGISTER THE PHONE TO MY VERIZON ACCOUNT IN PLACE OF THE LG THAT I HAVE NOW?

    Asked by RUSS.

    • Answer this is what i had to do, some phones use different styles of sim cards. i took my nano sim out of my iphone and found out it would not fit in the moto unlocked phone. it was supposed to come with a sim card adaptor kit but for some odd reason it didnt. i took my moto to best buy and they cloned my number onto a sim card that fit into the moto. you still have your old number and contacts. so far its been the best phone i ever had. great battery life and absolutely no bloatware on a android phone. awesome!

  • QuestionWho refurbished the phone? Factory (Motorola) or other? Is the battery it comes with new? thanks

    Asked by briancol.

    • Answer I think the Geek Squad just checks the phone to make sure it is fully functional with no damage and offers it for sale. The phone is likely only a few moths old. Batteries can last for years, so it would not be changed unless there was a problem.
