This is the PS42 Modern 8RC (https://www.msi.com/Laptop/PS42-8RX/Specification) I am guessing that Best Buy specked the smaller ssd who knows why..? FYI, I pulled the Kingston 256MB ssd out and installed a BPXP 1TB ssd.. You need to be able to clone the original drive to the replacement externally; then install newly cloned ssd. Note, I purchased a (M.2 NVME SSD Enclosure Adapter, USB 3.1 Gen 2) and used Macrium Reflect cloning software. The access is not the easiest, but doable if you take your time. I had no problems, plug and play after the cloning completed.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had issues finding specs originally, but there are actually more versions of this laptop than you'd think. There's a chart / table you can find on MSI's website ( https://us.msi.com/Laptop/PS42-Intel-8th-Gen/Specification ) that contains all configurations of this laptop. This one (The PS42 Modern-074) does indeed exist; 256 gig SSD, with a GTX 1050. Almost every online review of this laptop is for one of the earlier versions, usually with an MTX150 and a 512 gb SSD, so keep that in mind.
