I bought this board then realized my power supply only had an 8 pin slot. I contacted MSI customer support and they said I only need the 8 pin, that the 4 pin is only for 'high end' computers that need the power. If your power supply doesn't have the extra 4-pin then you either don't need it or your power supply isn't big enough.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.From what I have read unless you are going to do some serious overclocking, you can use the 8 pin connector and leave the other one open. I have done this on all but my most recent Motherboards and never had any issues. Of course I run everything close to stock speeds. I'm not sure what video card you are using, but a high end card draws a lot of power and I would go with an 850 or 1000 watt supply.
