• Huh? This is a cable modem. Meaning you ISP have to provide cable service to your modem for internet. Centurylink is DSL uses phoneline. I don't know about Direct TV satellite internet service. Never heard of it. There is Hugo? Satellite internet service, which uses downstream satellite feed but need phone line for upstream connection. DSL uses a modem that is wired via telephone line.

• The Netgear CM500V does not have a built in router or wifi. It is only a voice modem (telephone). Another words for internet and telephone.

• This is just a modem; it has no Wi-Fi. To add Wi-Fi, you have to connect a wireless router to the modem.
