Installation was straightforward, didn’t take long with Comcast. This Modem also supports telephony.

It's very hard to find a modem without WiFi that also has the phone service (which is what I wanted), however this one absolutely does the trick. Everything seems to be going great so far. No more rental fees for the equipment and no more of WiFi running on the Comcast Gateway even though I turned WiFi off. The latter is one of the main reasons I wanted a new modem without WiFi. It was still running WiFi (the light on Gateway was off, but in the actual Gateway settings it kept showing it was running a hidden WiFi signal). I have my own router that is much better than the Gateway from Comcast and I don't want their WiFi signals interfering with my router. Set up was a breeze. The instructions say you must call Comcast to activate it, but that was not true for me. I was able to activate it by launching the web browser and the set up screen to activate it popped up. It gives you an option to sign in with your Comcast email to activate or use your Comcast account number. If I remember correctly, there was also another option, but I can't remember what it was. Also, be sure to restart your modem before hooking your router up to it because in my case I just unhooked the modem from running directly into the computer and plugged it in to the router and booted the router up and it would not work. I'm guessing this was a MAC address issue since it was originally directly connected to the computer. Once I restarted the modem and hooked it up to my router, everything was fine.

Installed a couple days ago along with a eero router. Sales person at Best Buy said it would be "super easy to install - probably complete in 30 minutes or less". He didn't realize (although I told him) we were dealing/communicating with Comcast/Xfinity. After about 4 1/2 hours on the phone with Comcast and being told they loaded the wrong equipment into my account and it would not be operational for 24 hours-"call back tomorrow" I decided to try to load it myself through the my account/Xfinity program (a couple hours later). With a quick phone call to Netgear and a quick call to eero I was up and running - Netgear and eero are GREAT to work with - Comcast SUCKS!! I would recommend this to a friend if they did NOT have to deal with Comcast - otherwise I would not recommend to my enemy.....

Finally, our internet connection is OFF TO THE RACES! Easy setup and immediate results. We had a Xfinity modem that we were paying $10 a month rent on. Replaced with Netgear and connection is better than ever!

I purchased this cable modem to replaced the old one I purchased used from Amazon. My old one stopped working so I had to replace it. The Netgear modem is good in the sense that it is fast (pumping out 300 MB/s), easy to install, and reliable (no issue found since installed few months). I recommend it to anyone who need a cable modeml

I love this modem. Its extremely simple and I can use it with my Comcast telephone. Its very small and discrete. It is perfect for for someone who doesn't need a modem that has a wifi router. I had an existing wifi router that was much better than the combo one the cable company rents you. Plus now I don't have to pay a monthly modem rental. It was a smart purchase and you will enjoy it also!

Replaced Cable rental modem in 10 mins, With help from checklist provided with unit. Called Xfinity (number was on checklist) and swap was done and back up in less then 10 mins. I could not be more happy now that unit works great and that rental fee gone, unit will pay for it's self in less then 7 months, well worth it.

I have been toying with buying my own modem for years. I have my router in the basement, wifi AP on the 2nd floor, and my modem EMT in my den. I only wanted an EMT (telephone) modem. Researching one that is Xfinity supported limits my options. Through the years I have read horror stories of xfinity customers getting their purchased modems especially the voice ones activated in a timely matter. While Xfinity increased my download speed lately (for free) and my rental modem could not keep up with the new speeds. This Netgear CM550V was so easy to install! Completed it all online without having to talk to separate tech support for provisioning the internet part and voice part. Had it up and running in 15 minutes. Now my download speeds are around 295mps vs 130mps. Has been rock solid for 2 weeks now. If I have problems I will update.

I need to have the fastest and most reliable technology and this cable Modem is extremely good for my needs.

This Modem has been the best performing product as compared to having used 2 other manufacturer. Could no believe the compact size of it, the ease of handling it, and yet it delivers more than expected. This is a definite yes to anyone who needs a new modem.

Wanted to replaced the modem/router that my cable company provided since each upgrade they provided seemed to get worse instead of better. We purchased this modem along with a Netgear Nighthawk router on the advice of a Best Buy associate. I am very happy with the speed, range, and their ability to handle many devices at once. I am an analyst, and I work from home by connecting to my company's VPN. Our home phone is internet based. Plus my family and their friends utilize multiple devices (laptops, tablets, fire tv sticks, smart tvs, online gaming systems (Playstation & XBox) and smart phones... often at the same time. This Netgear modem/router combination handles all of it well, and my family is happy with our wifi for a change The only problem I've had is that I have not been able to get my company's Shoretel VoIP phone to work. I am unsure if this is a Netgear issue or not.

I own my own router and needed to purchase a new modem to replace my old ARRIS Gateway which was no longer compatible with my comcast blast speed. I had placed the ARRIS TG862G-CT in bridge mode using it just as a modem. The set up was very easy with the NETGEAR. The Instructions were very simple and easy to follow. The phone worked right away just by the using Internet, Getting the Wi-Fi working required calling Comcast to provide them with information on the product. So far everything is working fine and I’ve already noticed an improvement in my Internet speed.

We needed to upgrade our cable modem for our Comcast/Xfinity intenet and phones. Installation was straightforward, though a chat session with Comcast is required to activate the modem. There are modems that handle higher speeds than this one, but this was sufficient for our service. The unit seems to be pretty hot when it is in operation but that does not seem to impair its operation. After installation we could not get a dial tone on the phone line; this required another call to Comcast but they did something on their end which corrected the problem so I think the problem was not with this modem. Maybe not flashy, but seems to work fine.

Works great. Now I don’t need to rent the comcast equipment. Also works with voice if you have phone from comcast also.

I am pleased with the small, compact modem and am finding it efficient, easy to use and reliable. A good deal for the price!

This was my 2nd choice modem. I needed phone support as well as data. I initially got the 32x8 Netgear for the better speed/channels but realized it did not support voice phone. This works great, I have not seen any speed issues and we use a lot of devices between streaming, tablets, laptops, and Xbox. Easy to hook up, plug right in outside the box. It is a modem only and does not include a router. You will need to install a second router if you want wifi. It does work with Comcast Xfinity.

I bought this modem almost 3 months ago and everything has worked well ever since. When I first connected the modem to my computer and powered it up, a Comcast screen popped up right away to perform the self installation. The process worked fine for the Internet, however the final screen gave me a message to call the Comcast installation phone number to complete the phone setup. I called this number and in a half hour my phone was working fine. I am getting 120 Mbps for an Ethernet connection for my package which is advertised as 100 Mbps plus I have had no disconnects. I am very happy with this modem.

My ISP provider, Comcast, whould no longer allow me to have an internet modem and a voice modem at my house. The NetGrear CM500V was the perfet fit. It also allowed me to use my existing router. The internet setup with Comcast was easy. But, getting the voice modem to work took a few calls. Finally their technical team was able to make it work. The internet speed is fast and the voice service works perfectly. I am highly satisfied with this modem.

I purchased this modem to replace a Xfinity modem because I was tired of replacing the modem twice a year. I also found that the modem I had was no longer supported by the original manufacturer, so replacing it was a no brainer. I expected setup to be a hassle, but it literally a few minutes to connect and activate. The web-based install was easy to follow and I didn’t even have to call Comcast. Since I have Xfinity voice service, my modem choices were limited. I couldn’t be happier with this modem and would recommend it to anyone with Xfinity Internet+Voice Service.
