“Would this modem/phone work for the phone service from RCN in chicago? RCN says that I would need to use the existing modem/phone to get phone service because of the EMTA and just get a modem and splitter for internet service.”

I had a modem/phone combo also. I decided to split them and get a separate modem to get a faster down and upload speed. I checked with my cable company and they said I had to use a splitter also(they gave me the splitter and cable). It was easy to change over and it works great.

It will only work if your carrier offers phone service.

Not familiar with RCN it works with Xfinity and Cox.
