• This is not the Netgear router that has a cable modem built in. If you want to use this router you will have to buy or rent a modem.

• Raymond... this does not have a built in modem. This is just a router albeit a dual-band gigabit ethernet AC router. The title for a product should say something like router with built-in cable modem or wireless modem and router. I just typed in modem router on best buy search bar and pulled up a good amount of these that your looking for. I just seen a Netgear 802.11ac dual-band gigabit router with built in adl2+ modem.. model # D6200100NAS $163.99 Is this what you have you thought you bought? It looks the same but does have the built in modem. hopes this helps you

• It doesn't have a modem built in, which is a good thing. I had a dual modem/router, and when it wouldn't work anymore we weren't sure what was broken. Now we can troubleshoot more accurately when there is an issue.
