This would work, but you'd have to wire it.

Depending how you house is configured:
1. Consider a wireless repeater.
2. Consider using a Ethernet through power line kit

I replaced my existing router partially because it wouldn't reach downstairs to the opposite side of the house (2100 sqft). This one solved that issue. No wiring involved other than removing and reconnecting all cords to/from your old router to/from this one. I didn't have to reposition it at all, either.

Use it instead of the existing one. The range is very good, you can't compare it to n600 (i had it too).

You can use it for that, yes. But it does need to be wired with an Ethernet cable to your cable modem.
