A:AnswerI have 6 cameras. I bought them more than 1 month ago. All the batteries are still working. Some have faced intensive use (20 to 200+ videos a day) and are down to 1 battery bar, whilst others are still at 4 bars. For example, the one above my front door records only 4 to 16 videos daily of 30 secs each. It is still showing 4 bars. The one facing the garden is picking up the wind, clouds, sun, blowing grass, birds, and cats all day long. It has only 1 bar left. My advice is as follows:
Lower the sensitivity from 100% to 70%. This means moths, birds and falling leaves are less likely to trigger a recording.
Reduce the recording time to between 10 and 30 seconds.
Turn on geo localisation so it does not record when you are present.
Point the camera at places where movement would be unusual or infrequent.
Don't point it at a busy high street, or it will record everything running down the batteries quickly and using up your Arlo data allowance. For that kind of use you would need the Arlo wired camera and a paid Arlo data plan.
The ideal use of these cameras is to pick up special or unusual movements, so they are perfect to monitor the inside of your home when you are on holiday, but if you want to monitor a place with lots of movement, I recommend getting the wired version.
A:AnswerIf it is mounted outside and you are using the magnetic mount, then YES it can be stolen. You will have to place it up high or purchase a different type of mount for it that screws into the camera, then you attached it with screws to a wall or something.
A:AnswerYes, you can set them up on a schedule to only record at certain times. Essentially, the part you are scheduling is the motion detection. They're always on (but in power saving mode). The cameras aren't technically on unless you're actively looking at them through the app. When motion detection is on, it will be looking to trigger the camera to turn on. That's how he batteries last so long.
A:AnswerI use cloud storage to review recordings, and 2 GB of data is free. Anymore, and you will pay for the cloud storage. I can typically record 5-6 days with cloud storage. I have a 1TB hard drive and I just download video that I want to keep on to that device. You can also save to a thumb drive or any other external storage device. The system will also send an email notification when your cloud storage is almost full.
A:AnswerIt's really going to be dependent on how you set up the "rules" for your camera. For instance, I have my motion sensors on and the sensitivity set to 100%, so anytime something goes by it records; 24x7. I also have the duration set to 1 min; it can record up to 2 mins. With those two combinations, I probably get 100+ notifications a day. My batteries last about a month. Hope this helps.
A:AnswerI bought this for a similar reason. I have only had it for 2 days, but I am having no luck with having motion detected through glass. I have walked back and forth over a large range, waved, etc and no motion is detected. I followed the instructions, but no luck. Of note, I get a perfect picture all the way across the street (200ft), if just viewing. I can see cars and people clearly. Problem is It just isn't detecting motion and recording even at 5-6 ft away (through glass anyway).
A:AnswerThe camera is completely wireless for indoor/outdoor use and yes an Ethernet cable is included in the box that runs from the very slim and sleek base station to your router. Very easy to setup and use.
A:AnswerFirst 1GB is free for up to 5 cameras. No pointing to other sources, you need to manaully download and move to other storage, very painful process.
A:AnswerYou can view video and do various admin actions via apps on smartphones and tablets. You can also access the cameras from any internet connected computer.
A:AnswerI have found it to be anywhere from 1 to 6 seconds based on how cold it is outside, in the summer it averages 3-5 seconds. Since these cameras use heat-based motion detection, the colder it is outside the quicker the cameras will pick up a warm body moving in front of it. Now that it's getting colder they trigger in 1 to 2 seconds. But for me even ten seconds would be fine to alert me that someone or something is moving around in front of the camera and then allow me to take action if needed.
Hope that helps.
A:AnswerNo, when your router turns back on the cameras return to service. My power has gone out once since i've owned them. Once everything returned to normal, the cameras automatically re synced
A:AnswerThe box says 300 feet. I set up one camera in my backyard on the shed, which is real close to the 300 feet. When I first set it up it showed a weeks signal. I left it there over night, and now shows a stronger signal - and the image is quite good.
A:AnswerThe cameras will record from 10 second to 120 second video clips when motion is detected. The storage is in the 'cloud'. The settings/rules/modes for the cameras are all set up in the application or online.
A:AnswerYou MUST use the cloud to process the video stream and it comes back to your smartphone or computer browser. 1GB of storage (approx. 7 days) - can subscribe to get more storage.
A:Answerthe motion detection videos are saved on the netgear arlo cloud servers and you can download the video to a local drive.
if you're on the basic plan, you have 7days to get your video from the cloud before you loose them. other paid plans offer a bit more freedom
