A:Answer the base station plugs into the wifi system. Don't have the answer of 'WHY". That is the only wired part of it. Other "wireless" systems have a monitor that is wireless, but not the cameras. this system is nothing more than a nanny cam or baby monitor, not great for security. I was ripped off for 10k worth of product and NOT ONE PICTURE CAPTURE. the thief hacked into the system and erased all of his photos. If you get this system, be sure to CHANGE the default password. It's no guarantee, but a bit harder to hack into. I have been extremely disappointed in this system, I do NOT recommend it. Right now I feel so violated, a condition I was trying to avoid. Not to mention 6 months of HARD WORK pollinating for new seed stock is gone forever. The 6 plants he got that had approx 4 lbs of tops each plant, 15-17 inches long. So much for my medicine for this year. No tinctures or edibles this year. Not to mention the cost of the grow. These cameras cost me allot of money. Hoping since I have geek squad they will take them back, but I doubt it. BB has a pretty poor return policy.
