This is only a WiFi router. It does not include a modem. You would need the correct modem for your service and that would connect to this with an ethernet cable. Assuming your current modem/router combo device has ethernet outputs, you could use those to connect to this or any other wifi router. In that case, assuming you have the option, you could shut off the wifi function of the old device and just use a new router to create a new wifi network. You would need to be able to access the settings on the Cox device, probably via the device's ip address and a password...

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hate to say it but the Best Buy tech isn't always the most reliable source. Keep in mind these are low wage, entry level IT employee's. This router is not a router/modem/switch combo device. This is just a router/switch combo, meaning you would either need to still use your Cox modem/router/switch combo, or get a separate modem, or return this device and get a new router/switch/modem combo. The modem is the device that translates the signal (modulates and demodules, hences the name modem) coming over coax into a digital signal that your computer understands.
