Is the router connected to the cable box via WiFi or hardwired? In my experience, streaming DirecTV happened through the cable box and did not require home internet connection as it was all done via satellite. Do you have directv through the satellite/cable box or direvtvNOW through a device such as Apple TV or roku? If you are receiving reliable internet through the router and able to browse the web on your computer/cell phone/tablet then this could be a direcTV issue. I would advise to give them a call and ensure you have this feature enabled as sometimes they will disable movie rentals on your account at your request, especially if you have children in the home, to avoid accidental rentals and unexpected bills.
