1900 Better range and coverage while only able to possibly provide up to 1900 mbps 2200 Little less range while only able to possibly provide up to 2200 mbps Also 1900 gives you many additional ports to plug Ethernet cables into if you need multiple hard wire access.

The X4 plugs directly into the wall socket for power while the AC1900 has a separate power supply cord ; so significant compactness versus flexibility of positioning. The AC1900 has more ports for wired LAN . The AC1900 has directional antennas which may be useful . The AC1900 has USB port for shared memory or to facilitate a wireless printer option. The X4 is probably slightly faster or can host more traffic from the specs. The nighthawk AC1900 set up software is quite complex (And feature rich) and not intuitive and the instructions are not clear . I do not know about the X4 but suspect it is simpler as it has less features. The AC1900 was difficult to set up – primarily because it is very flexible in how it can be used- and once you realize this then it becomes very useful but if you don't you can be scratching your head as to why you are not seeing or receiving the WiFi signals and data rates expected. The AC1900 is a very useful device and has certainly achieved what I wanted in extending ranges of my devices .Note it is does not claim to increase data rate for devices (in fact may be less but if you cant receives signal it is academic about the potential date rate)
