Yes very little is to be done with your Comcast router. The only thing you would need to do is connect the device on your Comcast wifi connection that's it. It is always a good idea to restart your router when adding any new devices but it's optional.

In other words you must already have a router set up with a internet connection which you will then connect to and extend that wireless connections range.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I used my Toshiba Satellite laptop, plugged directly into the Nighthawk with an ethernet cable. It automatically finds the Netgear IP address and website. Simply follow the instructions, and in less than five minutes, it's setup, password protected, and ready to use. Unplug the ethernet and power cable from the Nighthawk, and place it in the center of your house or floor. The key is to place it close enough to your router to receive a strong signal. The factory wireless router puts out a weak signal but if the Nighthawk is close enough to it, it will be fine. Do not place the Nighthawk on a different floor from your router. The router is too weak to send a reliable signal over long distances to the Nighthawk. Once it gets a strong signal from your existing router, it will blast a full power signal throughout your house, and even outdoors! All of your devices that are Wi-Fi capable will have full internet access and speed.
