If you mean do you need a separate connection for both units, you do not. The extender unit gets plugged into a wall outlet for power, but it receives signals directly from the main router unit. Either one phone line or cable connection to the main router unit is all you need. Hope this helps--good luck!

Please try again later.Nothing to do with phone as yes, it plugs directly into modem Via etherbet cable (possible confused with phone line?....ethernet looks similar ) Super easy setup with app which has useful tools as well. Decided to go with this one when I upgraded speed as it looks to be relevant for future changes/upgrades
