NETGEAR Nighthawk AX1800 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 System (2-pack)
Q: Can you purchase satellites separately or is this only a two part kit? Is it expandable?
A: We have a planned release of the satellites later this year.
A: I had same issue and chose to grab a netgear LAN switch as the online instructions to utilize an old router seemed like it may compromise the purity provided with this system (especially if I were to do it myself ;-) ). Looks like that's an option to do so but I’d recommend setting up a new switch to go with the new system that will probably be able to handle more in the future as well.
A: Yes this device has the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. - NETGEAR
A: I do not know if this will work with your extender, but I suspect that with this product I doubt you will need the extender. I have a 2 story home, approximately 3000 sq ft in size. My base station is in the master closet (where the telecom company dropped the line) and the satellite is upstairs. We get strong signal all throughout the house and well into our front and back yards. I called netgear presales support to ask them some questions before purchasing, they were very helpful. They would answer your questions for sure.
A: One is a router and the other is a satellite. No need to purchase a separate router.
A: The MK62 is setup with Qos to allow you to prioritize internet traffic. https://kb.netgear.com/24266/How-to-enable-Quality-of-Service-QoS-on-routers-using-the-NETGEAR-web-interface
Q: Will these be good for gaming?
A: Yes I have the main base station near my gaming pc so that I have a lan connection, The other base station is near my sons pc and he has the exact same ping. The Repeater module has a lan port also. Even using the wifi I see no drops in ping. Overall a great system. I would buy again.
A: The satellite does need to plug into the wall for power but not for internet. It receives wifi from the main router and then transmits that out from itself to the area it is in extending the coverage/range.
