Hello, I think I can answer your question. I am not at all computer savvy, so I had a member of the Best Buy Geek Squad come to my home to install my Nighthawk mesh system, which consisted of 2 units - a main one installed next to my Apple desktop computer and one in another room. I did ask this exact same question you pose to the technician and he affirmed that additional "pods" can be purchased and configured into the existing mesh network. My intention, if I needed to add more extended range to my wifi mesh network, was to hire the Geek Squad to do the installation of any additional "pod" that I purchased. As it turns out, the mesh system that has been installed, appears to be doing a great job of wifi coverage so I most likely will not need any extension. I hope this helps to answer your question?
