Dear JAVA1; I don't see a problem with this. I have done my own hookup with Netgear at home. You get enough connections, but you are not changing the speed of the Internet. My Uverse does about 10 Mbps. If this were Spectrum, the fast Internet connection applies to this Netgear router (up to 200 Mbps). I guess if you upgrade to something faster in the future, you'll be all set to go. Still a great purchase, regardless. Hope that helps. Consultant Brian
