This router doesn't have a modem built-in, so you'd still need that. Netgear does have a line of modem/router combos. If you're using Xfinity's phone service though you'll need modem that's also compatible with the telephony and there aren't many of those.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, it can replace the Xfinity modem. I believe Xfinity uses a modem/router combo so you will probably need a modem also. I recommend the Arris Surfboard 6190. I bought my own to get rid of the fee and on top of that got a much better and faster connection. Just call up Xfinity if you get the modem and router and have them provision the new modem and your speed will increase siginificantly and your connection will be much more stable and reliable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NetGear D7800 will not replace your modem. NetGear makes a Comcast compatible modem and Routers that have built in modems. But be careful if you have VOIP because it requires a different modem than straight Internet traffic.
