Not the most expensive but the one I have been most satisfied with so far. It last a feature I love which is auto management of the 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks but even though this takes a little more assigning I find that it works better. My previous router had that feature and I found unreliable signals every so often as it had devices on 2.4 ghz when it felt it was better but it actually wasnt, it did the same with the 5ghz. After testing I know what devices perform best in which rooms on each networks so I have more control using the older method. Otherwise my only other annoyance is the old interface in the settings. Everything else is top notch, it looks cool, is very reliable, has great signal strength (large antennas), and performs like a champ. I have zero issues with ping on my PC in online games and stream all the 4K video my heart desires. I highly recommend this if you do not want to break the bank and want something that will work as advertised.

Made a huge difference from an ea6350

I'm not as tech savvy as I'd like to be when it comes to networking. I did as much research as I could between this one. The r7500v2 and the linksys equivalent that I can't remember. And went with this purchase. WOW it was a big difference going from my EA6350 router (which was only a year old). Before, I did not have good 5ghz coverage being between floors and about 50 feet away from my ea6350. Now with this one I can go anywhere in my 1500 sq ft house and get over 90% signal on this router. I also get my maximum speed from Comcast (250mbps) when speed testing on 5ghz wifi when far away from the router. I could barely break 100 on my old router. The only drawback is that I had 2 instances of my Xbox one connected via Ethernet was not able to connect to Xbox live. Resetting the router fixed that issue. Make sure to buy extended warranty on any router you buy. Routers are more susceptible to exhibit connectivity issues later down the road. So this makes it easy to swap out no hassle

This router is performing excellently for a 2 bedroom apt connecting to at least 4 devices all at one time! I can stream Netflix while searching on my smart phone, as my roomie plays ps4 (& does not lag at all) & plays music on Google home or searches on a smart phone or streaming on a tablet or laptop. Awesome router!

The router works great but it has a bright LED power indicator light. There is a button to turn on and off the LED lights for other functions but not the power light which gets in the way. I have the router in our movie room and had to put something over the light.

Netgear Nighthawk X4s Wireless Dual-band Wi-fi Router was easy to setup. It provided exceptional Wi-Fi coverage to the most distant parts of my home. In minutes my computer, printers, and mobile phones received total Wi-Fi coverage. The SMART TV function transformed the reception to a level of perfection I had not seen on both my televisions. Netflix was easily streamed in and I was thoroughly pleased with the purchase of this router.

I bought this router to replace a "parental controls" router that I bought from Amazon called "pcwrt" about 18 months ago. My internet speed is rated for 60mbps, but with this old router I was only getting about 32 down. So for a test I bypassed the router and hard-wired my PC directly to the modem, and I was getting 60 or higher, so it was easy to determine that my “fairly new” router was the bottleneck. I have a home that has 2 levels (plus a basement) and about 1,700 square feet in size. Even though my home is medium sized, I went with the Nighthawk X4S just to make sure my home was covered, and then some. Let me tell you, I now consistently get 65+mbps down on all my devices, and I have a lot of devices. My device lists includes ipad’s, android and ios Phones, several roku boxes, ps3, ps4, smart tv, laptops, etc. In total I have roughly 20 devices that connect to my wifi. The range is incredible, my neighbor can connect to my wifi no problem. Also this router simultaneously broadcasts one signal at 2.4ghz and another signal a 5ghz, each with its own wifi name. The 2.4 has the capability to reach further, and the 5 ghz signal has higher speed but doesn’t reach as far, but even so the 5ghz still covers my house completely and I am getting over 60mbps down on either signal. I set up the devices that don’t move, such as roku boxes and PS4 on the 5ghz signal, and the portable devices (tablets, phones) on the 2.4 ghz signal. Anyway, this router is simply awesome, and well worth the price! Parental controls - These seem very intuitive and effective. You can set individual levels of “blocking” on each device if you wish. This was a big concern of mine, and I am happy with the customizability in this area. Genie app – I’ve read some complaints about this app, but I see no issues with it. All in all, a great router and I recommend it!

Tried the ASUS 3200 and while it was nice, it dropped connection sometimes to some devices. Tried the Netgear X4S and haven't looked back. Awesome performance, super fast, and great range. Our house is about 6500 sq feet and no problems with a connection anywhere. The mobile app is very nice as well, making setup a breeze. Highly recommend.

    Best router I've owned

Super fast, no lag, easy set up. This is the best router I've had. We had trouble with Netflix on our bedroom TV for a while and after calling our provider for assistance the tech looked at my 10 year old Netgear 270g and said I needed a new router. This was rated in the 10 best on CNET and it lives up to it. Samsung phones and my Vizio TV in the living room connect on the 5ghz channel. My three pc's and the upstairs TV connect on the 2.5ghz. They've never run faster. Streaming, gaming, this router handles it all with ease.

    Great Router

Router has been reliable and fast. Really, you can't ask for much more than that. Yes it's a little big, but it works. Speed: See screen shot (we have 200Mbs plan). During thanksgiving break we had many people streaming, going on internet, etc and the router never missed a beat. Reliability: 5 months - no reboots. Signal Strength: Far reaching, best we've ever had. Setup: Initial setup could not find internet - easily resolved by rebooting the modem and retrying. 1 star deduction for setup options and interface, although many won't notice or care.

    Keeps up with 300Mbps broadband

Previous dual band wireless router (Netgear N600) could not keep up with my recent broadband upgrade to 300Mbps no matter how close the device was, and I would occasionally get signal drop in some areas of my house. Hardwired to my Arris SB6183 I could hit advertised speeds, so decided it was time to upgrade. The four antennae on X4S keep me at full speed even 20' away, and in the previous dead zones in my house I now get full reception. Huge improvement.

I was using the gateway that came from my ISP and was having issues getting an open NAT on mine and my son's Xbox Ones. We were also dealing with substantial lag despite my 1Gb internet speed. With this router we fixed both problems instantly! We were both online and my wife and daughter were both streaming video and no one ever experienced any hiccups! You get what you pay for.

This router is relatively new and the performance is impressive. I've yet to see a router handle all of my wireless devices along with have consistent speed and range. Best of all, the 5Ghz signal strength actually reaches throughout my home and even onto my driveway/backyard. It is wall mountable which is nice for ventilation and keeping it out of the way. Trust me, if you buy this router you'll be amazed.

If you're looking for a router that will eliminate headaches, this is it. Truly plug and play. Large home, picks up everywhere. I even get a bar 400 yards away at the stoplight. Went from 25-40 Mbps to 70 in the same room. 50 upstairs. Used on 4k smart tv, Netflix, Ps4, ps3, couple phones, works perfectly. Looks cool, tucked away behind entrainment center. Has option to turn off all the LEDs that are on/flashing. Easily manageable from Netgear app.

Replaced my Linksys E2500 router from 4 years ago. With the old router problems with my iPad going to sites when only 30 ft away. Have large backyard (100ft) down a slope (going down to the pool) that I had to get a plug-in extender to get wi-if by the pool. With the new NetGear Nighthawk AC2600 all my problems were solved. Great range - no need for the extender, fast response. It was easy to set up. Was a little tricky getting my HP Photosmart C410 to work wirelessly. But after researching just rebooted everything (router, pc, and printer), set printer back to defaults and made sure printer "radio" was turned on then it worked like a charm. Very happy with the Nighthawk. I have 4 Smart TV's using Amazon and Netflix, 3 iPads, 2 iPhones, PS3, and 2 printers and they all work great. Easy to set up!

    A step up on routers

This router has proven to meet the high volume needs of my household. With 3 smart tv's, 5 smart phones, xbox, playstation, wii, 5 laptops, wireless printer and VoIP, this router can keep all conected. Basic routers kept dropping devices, locking up, and long buffering; not an issue with this router. It is expensive but there is something to say about turning it on and not having to reboot or reconnect devices.I have not touched it since I installed it.The signal reaches 100% of my large home when other prouts wold leave dead spots on the second floor. In fact, the signal reached all the way to the end of the block, wow! The 2 band feature is very nice and the capability to set up guest networks is a plus. I really like that there is virtually no buffering when loading videos. I would have given 5 stars but set up was a little challenging (visit website for full instruction manual, does not come with product) and the price is a little high. Nice product overall.

    Great dual band MU-MIMO router

Was looking to replace my 10-year-old Netgear router with something a bit more modern (e.g. 5GHz band and MU-MIMO support) so I stuck with the brand. So far, so good. Setup is simple for anyone thanks to the included documentation, and encourages general security. Support from Netgear is good in the form of regular firmware updates; the latest one fixing the one quirk I ran into in which our household's Apple devices would lose their wifi connection during sleep. It is quiet and power-efficient -- two things you actually had to consider when buying a router 10 years ago. Range is pretty great; I still maintain a solid wifi connection in the parking lot of my apartment complex (at least 75 feet away.) There's even a smartphone app ("Netgear Genie") that emulates the router's frontend you can normally access with a computer by its IP address -- handy if you don't have a desktop or laptop handy, although it's not as full-featured (useful for resetting the router and monitoring bandwidth usage by device, but not a whole lot else.) The only complaints I can leverage against it is its rather large footprint (It is wall-mountable if you desire) and very bright indicator lights, of which there are enough to light up a dark room. All except the power light can be disabled with an on/off switch, so this isn't much of a problem.

This router was an upgrade for my house to provide the speed and range for multiple ROKU sticks, laptops, iPads, and phones. So I'm very happy with the performance. No dead spots in the house (router is centrally located in my basement), and the speed with multiple devices connected at once is awesome! Set up was easy and the web based interface is simple to use.
