Packet loss would be due to the signal getting to your Xbox. If your router is too far away, this will harm your signal. The routers that the cable companies rent out are usually on the low end, switching to this router or just a better one will most likely improve your signal strength and eliminate packet loss and lag.

Cable company products are typically not the best because they combine the modem and the router in a single device. This router however packs a powerful punch and is separate from a modem so the performance is much much better. Good luck!
