Yes, Set one up as router and the other in AP mode connected via LAN Advanced setting tab Advanced setup Wireless AP then check the box and apply.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That would be a super expensive extender. I'm not sure what the benefits of doing that would be. You can buy extenders for about $80. If you did want to do something like this I believe you would connect the two with a long ethernet cable and the one you are using as an extender would be configured as one so that it doesn't assign ip addresses.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can create a wireless link between the 2 X8 routers. Only down side is that the repeater/extender will work as bridge. That means you will only be able to use the LAN ports of the repeater/extender to connect wired devices. The repeater/extender will neither broadcast the 2.4Ghz wireles band nor the other two 5 Ghz bands. That means you cannot use the repeater/extender to broadcast and connect it in wireless mode to your Clients. Whereas the other X8 which is the base station will work like a normal router. Hope it helps you
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. But that is an AWEFUL lot of $$ just for an extender. Just get a device for just that, "Extending Your WiFi" and most of 'em simply plug into an A/C outlet to accomplish that - it would likely be a fraction of the cost of using two of 'em too! Unless you're helping a neighbor who's all of a sudden on a limited income, a vet who can't find work, that sort of thing. I could understand.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Pages 95-96 of the manual shows how to put this router in AP mode, this is what you would set the 2nd X8 to. They would need to be linked together with a LAN cable for this to work. I've attached an image of the instructions below and also a link to the full manual. http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/R8500/R8500_UM_30Oct2015.pdf
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The firmware on the x8 does not support extender mode. Just buy netgear Orbi ac3200 ... It's designed to extend wifi coverage throughout any home... Have installed a few of the Orbi's and have to say I'm impressed with the performance and ease of installation. Its very stable and fast. I've added two satellite units to the base and haven't experience any signal degradation. Works on mesh technology.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes you can, but there isn't a need to Ina normal house ~3-4K square feet. If you need to, just buy the cheaper range extender Netgear makes for 1/3 of the price of the router.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The interface and nether app allow you to do a lot of things. But the range on a single one is great, you shouldn't need 2.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.NO IT HAS TO BE PLUGGED INTO YOUR MODEM AND THE EXTENDER DOESN'T HAVE TO BE YOU CAN PUT IT IN ANOTHER ROOM
