The Orbi needs to have an ETHERNET (wired) hand-off from an Internet Service Provider's (ISP) modem. So, the answer is NO. A simple Wi-Fi repeater MIGHT achieve what you are trying to accomplish. A "wireless repeater" is a standalone device that increases the network's reach to places that may not otherwise pick up the signal. You may need to have access to some network parameters which the Marina folks scan provide for you.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Probably. You need to have some network understanding to do it. You basically would need to connect your source to the Orbi via wifi, and then set a static route for 0.0.0.0 to go to that device. That'll send anything that's not on the orbi's subnet (i.e. internet traffic) to the secured wifi connection, which then would have it's own routes out to the internet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.No. It requires a cable to a modem I am fairly certain. I don't know that it would work properly in Access Point mode to use as you ask. Someone else may be able to address it further
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Orbi router must be plugged into an in-home modem with an Ethernet cable or into an Internet source that you can control. It is not designed to pick up a public Wi-Fi signal (such as the one in the marina) and create a network from that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Every device connected to your local network (wired and wireless both) should be able to communicate with each other in the absence of internet service. There may be variables of course, such as a particular device that actually requires an internet connection.
