“Can this modem and router combo be used as router only? In case in future if I change my internet service provider who is not compatible and I might have to use their own modem.”

The base has 4 Ethernet ports built in but there is not an Ethernet input. A separate modem and router would likely be best in this case
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, as long as you have a good modem it should work with little issue. However, if you plan to use a mesh system with a dedicated 3rd party modem you're better off just getting the standalone router.
