The USB Cable is meant to be used only for the PC Connection and powering the camera indoors, but it's not designed to power the camera in the vehicle. The 12V Cable is designed to be connected to the cigarette lighter port on your vehicle and power the camera. Yes, the Series 2 Hardwire Kit is compatible with the 222 model. If you choose to use the Hardwire Kit instead of the 12V Cable, the camera will be able to access the vehicle's battery while it's parked and record in case it senses a strong movement.
